Stand-up to start the last night of the year
New Year’s Eve asks a lot of one evening. Dinner, drinks, a party and the journey home all compete for the same few hours. A comedy show gives the night a fixed point early on. You know when it starts and roughly when it ends, so the rest of the plan can fit around it.
Each show is a full night of live stand-up with a host and a lineup of comedians. Pick the start time that suits your plans, book your seats, and spend the first part of the evening laughing in a small basement or club room in the West End.
There is no dress code, so come in party clothes or a coat over jeans. You do not need to know anyone on the bill. The host introduces each act, chats to the room and keeps the night moving. Find a seat, get a drink from the bar and let someone else do the talking for a while before the rest of your evening begins.
Choosing your show time
The earlier show suits anyone with a booking later on. You can laugh first, then head to a restaurant or a party with most of the evening still ahead. It also suits anyone who would rather be home before the late crowds build up.
A later start gives you time for an early dinner nearby first. You can then walk to the venue and settle in. Afterwards you still have time to move on to wherever you plan to see in the new year.
Every show on this page is listed with its doors time and an approximate finish. Shows last around 90 minutes, and the exact length can vary a little from night to night.
Where the shows are
Our rooms sit in the middle of the West End, a short walk from each other. JK Comedy Club Soho is in the basement of The Spice of Life on Cambridge Circus. JK Comedy Club Covent Garden is at Arboretum, near Leicester Square and Charing Cross stations.
The address and a map for each room are shown above with the show times. Central London is busy on New Year’s Eve, so give yourself extra time to arrive. Check your travel before you set out and agree a meeting point if your group is coming from different places.
Both rooms have a bar, so you can buy a drink when you arrive. Seating is unreserved. Arrive with your group and you can sit together.
Booking for friends, family or a team
A comedy show works well for a group that wants to do something together before splitting off to different parties. Everyone gets the same start, the same laughs and the same story to talk about afterwards.
Groups of up to ten can book online in one go. For a bigger group, email us first with the show you want and how many are coming. Tickets for each show are sold separately, so book the time that suits everyone.
All guests must be 18 or over, and you may be asked for photo ID at the door. Please arrive before the start time. If you are late, your seats may go to someone on the waiting list.
Planning the rest of the night
- Book ahead — there is one night of these shows and seats in each room are limited.
- Eat around the show — book dinner nearby for before or after, and tell the restaurant when you need to leave.
- Check the lineup — we announce who is on through Instagram @jkcomedyclub.
- Want another night? — see every upcoming show, or plan a festive group outing on our Christmas party comedy page.
