Birthday Comedy Night in London

The birthday plan that works for every friend group — live stand-up from just £7

The Birthday Idea That Works for Everyone

Planning a birthday night out in London means pleasing a mixed group: some want a big night, some don't dance, some are watching their budget. A live comedy night is the rare plan everyone says yes to — you laugh together for 90 minutes, then decide the rest of the evening as a group.

Every show has a host and 4 professional comedians, and with 2,600+ 5-star reviews and a 4.9/5 rating on Google, JK Comedy Club is one of London's highest-rated nights out. Comedians often chat to the front rows — if the birthday person loves the spotlight, sit them at the front; if not, a few rows back keeps them safely out of the banter.

And it's kind to the group's wallets: tickets run £7-13, so nobody has to quietly opt out. Compare that to what other London nights out cost and comedy is the easy pick.

Pick Your Night — Shows 7 Nights a Week

Birthdays don't wait for the weekend, and neither do we. With shows every night across four central London venues, the actual birthday date can be the show date:

Friday Night — 7PM Leicester Square

The classic birthday slot. Catch the 7 PM show at our Leicester Square venue, then the whole West End is on your doorstep for dinner and drinks. Tickets £13 — book early, Fridays sell out.

Saturday Night — Leicester Square

The biggest night of the week, with shows at 7 PM and 9 PM. Packed rooms, electric atmosphere, and Chinatown two minutes away for a pre-show group dinner. Tickets £13.

Sunday Evening — 7:30PM Covent Garden

A relaxed, intimate birthday above a cosy pub at our Covent Garden venue. Roast dinner nearby, comedy, then a quiet celebratory drink. Tickets from £10.

Tuesday & Wednesday — £7 Midweek Birthdays

The cheapest way to bring a big group — tickets are just £7, less than a pint in most West End pubs. Same professional lineups, easier availability, and Soho's bars afterwards.

Monday — 7:45PM Covent Garden

A Monday birthday doesn't have to be a washout. Live stand-up from £7 upstairs at the Nell of Old Drury — the easiest way to turn the quietest night of the week into a celebration.

Big Group? Make It a Private Party

For a regular show, just book your tickets and arrive 10-15 minutes early — seating is unreserved, so early groups sit together. Group bookings may qualify for additional discounts; email us with your date and group size.

For milestone birthdays, private bookings take it up a level: the venue is yours for the evening, with a private comedy show — an MC and 4 professional comedians — drinks at the bar, and a dedicated event coordinator. No minimum spend, no hidden fees.

We recommend booking at least 2 weeks ahead for group bookings and 4 weeks for full venue hire, especially at weekends. Email [email protected] and we'll put a package together within 24 hours.

How the Birthday Night Works

  1. Arrive 10-15 minutes early. Grab a first round from the bar and claim seats together. Put the birthday person at the front if they're up for a bit of comedian banter — or a few rows back if they'd rather just watch.
  2. The show starts. A host warms up the room, then introduces 4 professional comedians. Lineups change every week, so you'll see a fresh mix of TV names, Edinburgh Fringe performers, and rising stars.
  3. Around 90 minutes of laughs. A short 15-minute interval partway through is perfect for another round and a toast.
  4. Carry the party on. All four venues — Soho, Covent Garden, Leicester Square, and Piccadilly Circus — are surrounded by bars and restaurants, so the celebration continues the second you step outside.

Making the Birthday Feel Special

Planning a surprise? The venues are intimate, so it's easy to have a few friends already seated with drinks when the guest of honour walks in — no complicated orchestration needed.

Want to add food, a cake, or decorations? Email [email protected] before your visit — for bigger celebrations, a private booking gives you the whole room and catering packages are available on request.

Booking last minute? Check what's on tonight — with shows seven nights a week, there's almost always a birthday-ready lineup within walking distance of a Tube station.

Birthday Comedy Night FAQ

Can we bring a birthday cake or decorations?

Our venues are live comedy rooms with bar service rather than restaurants, so we can't guarantee space for cakes or decorations at a regular show. Email [email protected] before your visit and we'll let you know what's possible. For bigger celebrations, a private booking gives you the room to yourselves, with catering packages available on request.

Can a big birthday group sit together?

Yes. Seating is unreserved, so arrive 10-15 minutes early and your group can pick a spot together. For larger parties, email us about group bookings — group bookings may qualify for additional discounts, and for milestone birthdays you can hire a whole venue privately.

Are drinks available during the show?

Yes. Every venue has a fully licensed bar, and there's a short 15-minute interval partway through the show to top up. Most groups arrive early for a first round before the comedy starts.

Is a weeknight or weekend better for a birthday?

Both work. Friday and Saturday nights have the biggest atmosphere and cost £13. Tuesday and Wednesday shows are just £7 — the cheapest way to bring a big group — and Sunday shows from £10 have a relaxed, intimate vibe. We run shows seven nights a week, so the birthday date itself can be the show date.

Is there an age restriction?

Yes — all shows are 18+. Bring valid photo ID as you may be asked for it on arrival.

How do we book for a birthday group?

Book your tickets on the tickets page — Friday and Saturday shows regularly sell out, so book early for weekend birthdays. For large groups or full venue hire, email [email protected]; we recommend at least 2 weeks ahead for group bookings and 4 weeks for full venue hire.

What time should we arrive?

Arrive 10-15 minutes before the show. That gives your group time to grab drinks from the bar and pick seats together — seating is unreserved, so early birds get the best spots.
