This is a full Saturday date in Soho that you can do on foot. You meet at Oxford Circus in the late morning, browse Liberty and Carnaby Street, and have lunch at Kingly Court. After a slow walk east to Soho Square and Charing Cross Road, the afternoon centres on a live stand-up show at 16:00. Dinner and a late coffee are a couple of minutes from the show.
Every stop is within about 15 minutes’ walk of the next. Opening hours below were checked on each place’s own website in late October 2026. Hours change for holidays and the festive season, so check again the week of your date. We have left prices out because they change often.

Walking times come from the TfL journey planner and are rounded. They assume an easy pace, which suits a date.
Getting there
Start at Oxford Circus station, on the Bakerloo, Central and Victoria lines. Liberty is about three minutes’ walk away. If you are coming from the south, Piccadilly Circus (Bakerloo and Piccadilly lines) is about ten minutes’ walk up Regent Street.
At the end of the day you are close to two stations. Leicester Square (Northern and Piccadilly lines) is about five minutes from Frith Street. Tottenham Court Road (Central, Northern and Elizabeth lines) is about four minutes from Moor Street. Pay for the Tube by touching in and out with a contactless card, phone or Oyster card.
11:30 Liberty and Carnaby Street
Meet at Oxford Circus and walk to Liberty on Great Marlborough Street. Liberty opens at 10:00 on Saturdays and closes at 20:00, so there is no rush. The store’s own history says the building opened in 1924. It was built from the timbers of two old battleships, and their decks became the shop floors. It is worth a look even if you are not buying anything.
At 12:30, cross into Carnaby Street. The streets around it are pedestrianised, which makes them easy to wander together. Carnaby Street’s Christmas lights usually go up in early November, so a date from then until the new year gets them overhead.
12:45 Lunch at Kingly Court
Kingly Court is a courtyard of restaurants across three floors, about three minutes from Liberty. You can enter next to Dr Martens on Carnaby Street, from Beak Street or from Kingly Street. Two places that suit a relaxed lunch for two:
- Imad’s Syrian Kitchen, on the top floor. Syrian mezze and sharing plates, with plenty of vegetarian choice. It is open from 09:00 to 22:00 on Saturdays and takes bookings online.
- Señor Ceviche, a Peruvian restaurant with an open kitchen and a ceviche counter. It opens from 12:00 to 23:00 Thursday to Saturday and runs a weekend bottomless brunch.
Book a table for 12:45 on a Saturday. Ground-floor restaurants have seats in the open courtyard, and Kingly Court says that outdoor seating is covered throughout winter.

14:00 Soho Square
Leave Kingly Court around 14:00 and walk east across Soho to Soho Square, about 11 minutes. Westminster Council says the square dates from the 1680s. The black and white half-timbered hut in the middle was built in 1895, and there is a statue of Charles II. The garden opens at 08:00 every day, and closing times change with the season. Find a bench and sit down for half an hour.

14:45 Foyles on Charing Cross Road
Foyles is about three minutes from the square, at 107 Charing Cross Road, WC2H 0DT. Its flagship shop spreads over several levels, with jazz records on Level 2 and books in around 100 languages on Level 4. There is also a café. Foyles lists Saturday opening as 09:00 to 21:00, which leaves plenty of time to browse before the show. Pick a book for each other if you want a small game for the afternoon.

Leave by about 15:40. The Spice of Life is around the corner on Moor Street, a minute or two away.
16:00 Live stand-up at JK Comedy Club Soho
The centrepiece of the afternoon is our Saturday afternoon comedy show at JK Comedy Club Soho. It is downstairs at The Spice of Life, 6 Moor Street, W1D 5NA, about three minutes from Leicester Square station. Doors open at 15:45, the show starts at 16:00 and it runs for about 90 minutes.
You see a host and a lineup of professional comedians from the London circuit. The room is a small basement, so you sit close to the stage. Seating is unreserved, so arrive when doors open if you want to choose where you sit. The pub has a full bar.
A few practical points:
- The show is 18+. Bring valid photo ID.
- The comedy room is down a flight of stairs, with no step-free access. Contact the club before booking if you have access needs.
- Book ahead. Saturday afternoon shows can sell out.
If you would rather have a later lunch, JK’s Saturday schedule also has 17:00 shows in Covent Garden and Leicester Square. The Covent Garden show is at Arboretum, 2A Charing Cross Road, with doors at 16:00. Check what’s on for the shows running on your date. Our guide to afternoon comedy in London compares the daytime options.

17:45 Dinner at La Porchetta
The show finishes around 17:30. La Porchetta Pollo Bar is at 20 Old Compton Street, a couple of minutes’ walk away. It serves Italian pizza and pasta and is open from 12:00 to 23:45 Friday to Sunday. You can book through its website, which helps on a Saturday evening.
It is a casual, busy place, so it suits going over your favourite moments from the show.
19:30 Bar Italia and the walk home
Finish at Bar Italia, 22 Frith Street, about a minute from Old Compton Street. The family-run coffee bar has been on Frith Street since 1949 and is open every day from 07:00 to 04:00. It does not take table bookings, so it is first come, first served. Have an espresso or a nightcap before heading home.
If you want more comedy after dinner, the Covent Garden room runs Saturday night shows at 19:00, 20:00 and 21:00. It is about six minutes’ walk from Moor Street. See the Saturday night comedy page for times and doors.
From Bar Italia, Leicester Square station is about five minutes’ walk.
If it rains
If it rains, move indoors without changing the shape of the day. Give Liberty longer and skip the outdoor part of Carnaby Street. At Kingly Court, ask for a table inside, or use the covered courtyard seating in winter. Swap Soho Square for more time at Foyles, which is warm, dry and three minutes from the show. Everything after 15:45 is indoors anyway, and the walks between the show, dinner and Bar Italia are only a minute or two.
